Camp Magruder, near Fort Leavenworth, was a sort of stopping place for recruits en route to Utah in July and August, 1860, tinder command of Lieut.-Col. George B. Crittenden of the mounted riflemen. No permanent fortifications nor quarters were ever erected on the site.
