August Achenbach Dies Friday

August Achenbach, 76, one of Barber county's best known landowners, died suddenly Friday morning at his home in Hardtner. His death which came as a great shock to the Hardtner community, was attributed to a heart ailment.

The death of Achenbach occurred during the annual Barber county fair sessions in which he was greatly interested as was his father, the late Jacob Achenbach, who donated the present fair grounds to the association.

A resident of Barber county most of the life, he was owner of several thousand acres of land in Barber and adjoining counties and had spent much of his time in recent years in looking after that phase of the Achenbach estate.

He was a member of the Evangelical church.
