C. Everett Winter

C. Everett Winter, 92, died Friday, September 9, 2005 at Medicine Lodge. He was born August 22, 1913 north of Emporia, Kansas, the son of Charles Albert and Grace (Hoffman) Winter.

A resident of Medicine Lodge since 1998, coming from Emporia, he was a farmer, the plant manager of Victory Creamery, and then was employed by Emporia Electric Company for 28 years, where he retired in 1988.

On September 1, 1934, he married Irene F. Hinck at Admire, Kansas. He was a member of First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge, Miriam Chapter #14 Order of Eastern Star, Elder Citizens Club, Over Forty Club, all of Emporia. He was a Sunday School. Teacher and a scout master for Boy scouts for a number of years and received the Silver Beaver award.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Irene Winter, Medicine Lodge, a son Terry and his wife Debbie Winter, Medicine Lodge; a brother Earl Winter, Loveland, CO; four grandchildren, Angela Winter, Medicine Lodge, Scott and Claudia Winter, Overland Park, Kansas, Tom and Christy Winter, Elkhart, Kansas, Jennifer and Marc Holloway, Sawyer; six great grandchildren, Joseph Winter, Rusty Romine, and Samantha Romine, all of Medicine Lodge, Lexa Winter, Cedar Point, Oregon, Elizabeth and Geoffery Holloway, both of Sawyer. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Fern Bannister.

Funeral services were held on Monday at Memorial Law Cemetery, Emporia with Pastor Tom Walters officiating. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home. Arrangements were by Larrison Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge, Kansas.
