Noble Soper, passed away on the 7th of March 2008 at the age of 83. Born on December 17th, 1924 to Arthur and Norah Soper in Lethbridge, Alberta, he was known to his brothers and sisters as "Babe".Growing up in Medicine Lodge, KS with five siblings; Arthur, Delores, Virginia, Don, and Bill, he had a profound appreciation for the beauty of Kansas. After a visit to the Alps in Europe he declared "they're pretty, but they ain't the Gyp Hills."
Noble was drafted during WWII and deployed to the Pacific Theater of Operations as a Combat Engineer for two years. During his Army service he served in New Guinea, the Phillipines, and was part of the occupation force in Japan.
He spent his working life as a Ford auto mechanic, and was well known for his unique ability to fix anything broken.
December 2, 1947 he married the love of his life Betty Jean Small and they built their life in Medicine Lodge. Surviving Noble are his wife Betty, their two sons James Thomas and Steven Gene.
The center of Noble's life was his family and he relished the time spent with granddaughters Karen, Rachelle, Diane Nicole, Bobbie Sue, and grandson Ryan Thomas. It was a joy to see his face light up when his daughter-in-law Paralee entered the room, and the happiness in his face was immeasurable when he watched his five great grandchildren, Matthew, Jack, Tyler, Sieanna, and Ava, at play around him.
Anyone desiring to offer a gift in Noble's memory can make this to the Parkinson's Foundation in care of the mortuary or display an act of kindness for a friend or neighbor. Graveside services will be held on March 15th, at 2:00 p.m. in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge, Kansas.
