Searching for information on the Thomas A. Houston,& Melissa (Pence)Houston, family.In the 1900 census's they lived in Bourbon, County, Marion Twp. Thomas rented and farmed 101 acres. Thomas was born in England. Children Edward, B. June-1885 Isabella, B.Jan.-1887. Lizzie, B. Mar.-1889. Julia, B. May,-1890. Thomas A Houston, B. Apr.-1852 Melissa (Pence) Houston. B. Nov.-1858

UPDATE: Have since found out that their Surname was listed on in Nebraska on their Marriage license as Thomas HOWSON and Melissa Pence and also on the census. They moved to Bourbon County about 1900 and Thomas's died there, it's believed in 1933 and Melissa in 1931? We can't find where they are buried. The family believe in Bourbon Co.?

St. Michaels cemetery in Freedom Twp, 1/2 mile west of Fulton show a JOHN GUILFOYLE, born in Queens County Ireland 1829-1877, and his wife Mary J. 1843-1910; as well as James T. born in Boubon County, KS 1868-1896; all this information is on one headstone. I received this information from the Osaga Historical Society in Fulton, KS. My great-grandfather was William M. Guilfoyle, b.11 March 1861 and d.9 March 1933. He was married to Mary Jane Sheats, daughter of Benjamin and Louisa (Barnett) Sheats, who are buried in Osaga cemetery on the west side of Fulton, Ks. I am trying to find information on the parents of William M. Guilfoyle, who were James and Elizabeth (Maupin) Guilfoyle. The 1875 census shows James being 43 years old and Elizabeth being 35 years old, living in Osaga Bourbon County, KS, and having six children, William being the oldest.

They had the following 8 children: Bessie Viola, Mary, Nellie, Forest Melvin, Teddy, Onie, Nonie, Walter Harmon. I know that they were in Fort Scott, at least until 1900 because my father, Walter Harmon was born there on 13 January 1900. Elizabeth Ann Potts was born 1841 in Indiana (census records) and married John Pruitt on Nov 14, 1861, in Bourbon Co., KS and probably near the P.O. of Dayton. In 1865 she and John were in the P.O. of Rockford. Looking for family and ancestors of Elizabeth.

I am looking for information about Cora WILLIAMS Kitchin married in Fort Scott, KS to Wilbur G. Kitchin on 1/26/1910. She died in Fort Scott on 9/1/1959. She had an identical twin sister Nora. I am looking for any information on this family. I have a Salmon P. Chase listed in the 1870 Bourbon Co. Kansas census as living it Marmaton TWP. The file that I saw did not list the family members. Does anyone have access to this census who can tell me who is listed as family members?

The only family members that I have any information on is my great grandmother Cora Belle Chase and her sister Delilah. I have been unable to find any information on her parents.

Still looking for info on my gggrandfather and any of his children (below is a copy of an obituary I received recently) I would love to hear from anyone related to these folks!

Moses Waddle was born in Bourbon Co. Kentucky, October 20 , 1828; moved from there to Illinois, was united in marriage to Sarah Dixon. To them eight children were born, three of whom have preceeded him to the grave, twin boys and Henrietta Moyer. He leaves a widow and five children to mourn his death_ Henry Waddle of Blue mound, Frank Waddle, Emma Meek and Mintae Leslie of Mapleton and Ida Buell of Zenia.

Mr Waddle came to Bourbon Co. Kansas in the fall of 1859 and took a homestead, on which he lived until his death. He enlisted in the Civil war in 1861 where he served as an honorable soldier. the Deceased was 81 years, 5 months and 25 days of age.
