Clifton Ellis Beth, 92, a resident of the Fort Scott Medicalodge, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 1996, at Fort Scott Mercy Hospital.

He was born Oct. 21, 1904, in Indian Territory, near Quapaw, Okla., the son of Albert and Elizabeth Catherine Hale Beth. His family moved and homesteaded at Randlett, Okla. In 1917, the family then moved to Kansas, in and around the Fulton and West Liberty neighborhood.

He married Edna P. White, and they farmed and lived in the West Liberty area until 1956, when the family moved to Gilbertsville, Ky. His wife preceded him in death in 1983. He returned to the West Liberty area in 1987.

He was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist Church. He was a charter member of the New Life Club of the Kansas Masonic Home and received his 50-year Masonic pin in 1988.

Survivors include three sons, Ellis Beth, Route 2, Fort Scott, Dean Beth, Gilbertsville,Ky., and Albert Beth, Nashville, Tenn,; one daughter, Carol Jean Smith, Gilbertsville, Ky.; one brother, Norman Beth, Fort Scott; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Ron Schultz conducted funeral services today at 1 p.m. at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Burial was in the West Liberty Cemetery. Pall bearers were Stephen Smith, Howard Beth, Larry Beth, John Sipe, Doug Bell and Darrel Beth. Music was provided by Carolyn Tucker, organist. Services were under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
