| Obituary of BEULAH V. BLACK |
| Beulah V. Black Beulah Vesta Black, 91, Augusta, homemaker, died Sunday, May 4, 2003. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at Dunsford Chapel in Augusta. She was born on May 27, 1911 in Bartlesville, Okla., to Richard and Ines (Knupp) Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, David G. Black in 1993. Beulah came to Augusta in 1913 and graduated from Augusta High School in 1931. She and David were married for 59 years. Mrs. Black was a talented and avid china painter. She was past president of Sunflower China Decorators Club of Wichita. She also served as president of the Kansas Federation of China Painters and was a member and teacher in the International Porcelain Artists. She was a member of the Grand Chapter of the Kansas Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She continued to teach china painting to students until the day she fell and broke her hip on Dec. 8, 2002. She died of complications from the fall. Survivors are: nephew, Philip and Anita Johnson and their son, Brian and his family of Seattle. |
