When he was 9 years of age he moved with his parents to Peabody (Marion Co.), KS. He attended the public schools in both Peabody and Florence (KS) after which he became interested in the study of medicine and attended Electic Medical College, Cincinnati, OH, where he was graduated in 1885.

After graduation Dr. Norris located in Annelly (Butler Co.), KS. When Whitewater was founded, he located here where he has served this community for the last fifty years with the exception of the years 1891 to 1898 when he practiced medicine in Prairie du Sac, Wisc.

He married on May 16, 1889, in Whitewater to Edith Anna Kirkwood. To this union three children were born, E. Roland and Robert K., twins, and Edith Marie Norris.

He was a member of the Federated Church of Whitewater and was always active in church work. He was also very much interested in the welfare of the
community and had served at various times on the school board in Whitewater.

He was also a member of the Harvey County Medical Society which organization he had served as president and was always active in the society, seldom missing their meeting.

Besides his widow, he is survived by his daughter, Edith, now Mrs. C. Milton Gray of Woodward, Okla., and his son, Robert K. Norris of Oklahoma City, Okla., Roland having passed away on March 26, 1929.

Dr. Norris was 73 years of age at the time of his death March 17, 1935. He was one of a family of twelve children, nine sons (John H. Norris 1846-1885) (William F. Norris 1850-bef 1909) (James W. Norris abt 1854-bef 1909) (Harry S. Norris abt 1856-bef 1933) (unk Norris 1858-1858) (Unk N. Norris 1861-bef 1909) (Luther N. Norris 1864-1873) (Granville Ray Norris 1867-1933) & Harrison Hurt Padgett)
and three daughters (Margaret Ann Norris Padgett 1848-1880) (Manerva J. Norris 1859-1882) (Betty A. Norris Cunningham abt 1872-bef 1933). Since the
death of his brother, Dr. G. R. (Granville Ray) Norris, Burlington, Kan., May 31, 1933, he has been the last surviving member of this large family.

The funeral service was held at the Federated Church at 2:30 Monday afternoon under charge of Rev. Mr. R. L. Hendrickson. Interment was made in the Whitewater Cemetery.
