THEATERS

There have been three Theaters in Chase County. The Air Dome Theater was located on the East side of Broadway just south of where Peach Phillips 66 Station is now located in Cottonwood Falls.

The Lyric Theater on the west side of Broadway was opened in 1933 and owned and operated by Earl Harmon, He sold it to Ed May in 1946. Dudley Doolittle Jr, bought it in 1950 and operated it until he closed the business in 1961. Bill Meager bought the Lyric Theater building in 1970. It is a vacant building.

The Uptown Theater is located in the City Auditorium in Strong City. Charles Lanscaster owned the Theater until 1946 when he sold the business to Ed May. Dudley Doolittle Jr. bought the Theater from Mr. May in 1950. Lyle McKee and Bill Yeager purchased the Theater in 1966 from Mr. Doolittle. Bill Yeager purchased Lyle's interest and has movies each Saturday and Sunday nights. (1972)
