Archer, Reverend

Reverend Archer was born in Noble county, Ohio fifty-eight years ago, January 17th. He came to Kansas in 1889 and became a minister of the gospel at Marion thirty-one years ago. In 1882, he married Miss Flora Fowler at Beverly, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Archer are the parents of two children; a daughter, Miss Ella, who is now librarian at Nickerson College and a son who died in infancy.

In connection with his work in the church, Rev. Archer was also a school teacher and instructor. He taught for a number of years in the Reno County high school and in the College of Nickerson. He was also principal and superintendent of the Lindsborg High School for five years. Before coming to Strong City to take charge of the Congregational Church, he was pastor of the Congregational Church in Nickerson for three and one-half years, and pastor of the Methodist Church at the same place for two years. Rev. Archer was a Mason, a member of the Odd Fellows, Eastern Star, A. 0. U. W. and Occidental fraternities.

Besides his wife and daughter, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Pheobe A. Archer of Macon City, Mo., and four sisters and three brothers. They are Mrs. Geo. Helton and E. B. Archer of Galena, Kansas; E. H. Archer of' Colombus, Ohio; Mrs, S M Fegtley of Chicago; M. B Archer of Billings, Mont.; Mrs Jennie Cougar of St Joe,Mo.; and Mrs. Lizzie Riley.
