Mrs. Mary Armagost Long Time Resident of Strong City Dies Friday in the Bethel Hospital in Newton.
Mrs. Mary Ann Armagost of Strong City died Friday, February
13, in the Bethel Hospital in Newton, following an illness of
several months. She had been a patient in the hospital about
two weeks. The Rosary was recited Sunday evening at the W.
J. Nash home. Funeral services were held Monday, February
16, at 9:00 a. m. at the St. Anthony's Church with Rev. Father
Philip White in charge. The pallbearers were Karl Stubenhofer
, Paul Stubenhofer, Henry Wiebrecht, Irvin Rettiger, Charles
Rettiger and William Bechelmayr. Burial was made in the
Catholic Cemetery.
Mrs. Mary Ann Armagost of Strong City died Friday, February
13, 1948 in the Bethel Hospital in Newton, following an illness of
several months. She had been a patient in the hospital about
two weeks. The Rosary was recited Sunday evening at the W.
J. Nash home. Funeral services were held Monday, February
16, at 9:00 a. m. at the St. Anthony's Church with Rev. Father
Philip White in charge.
The pallbearers were Karl Stubenhofer,
Paul Stubenhofer, Henry Wiebrecht, Irvin Rettiger, Charles
Rettiger and William Bechelmayr. Burial was made in the
Catholic Cemetery.
Mary Ann Rettiger, daughter of Catherine and John Rettiger,
was born November 10, 1868, at Leavenworth, Kans. Most of
her life was lived, in and around Strong City. On September 9,
1890, she was united in marriage to Amos Jesse Armagost of
Emporia at a wedding which took place in Strong City. Mr.
Armagost preceded her in death on March 19, 1912. To this
union five children were born, two of whom, Frank and Charles,
preceded her in death. One brother, William P. Rettiger, and two
sisters, Mrs. Frank Daub and Mrs. Albert Lewis, also preceded
Mrs. Armagost in death.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. W. J. Nash of Strong
City and Miss Amy Armagost of Newton; one son, John Armagost
of Cottonwood falls; three sisters, Mrs., A. W. Rvan, Mrs.
Margaret Kabler and Miss Ella Rettiger of Strong City and nine
Grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ann Armagost, 79, who died Friday in Bethel
hospital, Newton, were held in St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Strong City
Monday morning at 9 o'clock. The Rev. Father Phillip White was in charge of
the services. Sisters Gabriel and Raphael of St. Anthony's school, sang. Pall
bearers were Carl and Paul Stubenhofer, William Bechelmayr, Charles
Rettiger, Irvin Rettiger and William Ryan. Burial was in St. Anthony's
cemetery. Rosary was said Sunday evening at the W. J. Nash home.

Strong City, was, born November 10, 1868 at Leavenworth. She is survived
by one son, John Armogost of Cottonwood Falls, two daughters, Mrs. Nash of
Strong City and Amy Armogost of Newton. Three sisters who also survive, are
Mrs. A W Ryan, Mrs. Margaret (Ira )Kabler and Miss Ella Rettiger of Strong City.
