Baldwin, Carroll E "Cal" Cal Baldwin Dies
After Brief Illness
Wed, May 17, 1933
Well Known Man Had Lived Here
65 of the 68 Years of
His Life.
Carroll E. "Cal" Baldwin of Cottonwood Falls died Tuesday at his home following a week's sickness. Mr. Baldwin suffered a
stroke of paralysis at the court
house, Wednesday of last week and
was taken to his home where he passed away.
Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home in Cottonwood Falls and Interment will be in Prairie Grove cemetery. Rev. E. M. Scott will conduct the services.
Mr. Baldwin was one of the pioneers of this county, having come here when a child of three with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Baldwin. He was born November 18, 1864, at West Union, Iowa. The family moved to Emporia in 1866 and after living there a year moved to a homestead on Buck Creek.
Mr. Baldwin was married in February, 1897, to Miss Alma Holz at Cottonwood Falls. One son, Harold C. Baldwin, of Ponca City, Okla., was born to this union and he alone survives. Mrs. Baldwin died July 27, 1932. A sister of Mrs. Baldwin, Mrs. Ida M. Braesch, has kept house for
Mr. Baldwin since last summer.
CARROLL E. BALDWIN
Carroll E. Baldwin was born November 18, 1864, in West Union, Iowa, the son of Lysander B. and Frances Britton Baldwin. He passed away at his home on May 16 at the age of 68 years, 5 months and 28 days.
He was the youngest of three children and in 1866 he came with his parents to Emporia where they resided until 1867 when they came to Chase County, homesteading some land on Buck Creek.
Later Mr. Baldwin moved to Cottonwood Falls and in February, 1897, he was married to Alma
L. Holz who preceded him in death last July. They were the parents of one son, Harold C. Baldwin, who survives. Mr. Baldwin with his family, moved to southern Texas in 1910, returning to Cottonwood Falls in 1915, which has since been his home. Besides his son he is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the home at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon of last week, Rev. E.
M. Scott being in charge. Pallbearers were Fred Coe, JamesCahoone, J B Smith, Frank Mailen, and George Robertson.
