Bass, Mary Emma Nichols

Mrs. Mary Emma Bass, wife of Henry J. Bass of near Pleasant Farm post office, met a fearful death by falling into the fireplace, supposed to have been caused by a fainting spell.

Mrs. Bass occupied a separate room from her husband, and the first the family knew of the accident was Mrs. Bass ran into the room of her mother-in-law with her clothing in flames. The fire was put out but the flames had done their awful work.

The victim lingered in great agony until 9 o'clock Sunday night and passed to the great beyond. The family have the sympathy of the AUTOGRAM in their great bereavement.

Note: Mary Emma Nichols Bass was 39 years and six months of age at death.

Miller County Autogram, Tuscumbia, Missouri, March 02, 1899.
