Baumgardner, Delores "Dee" Gibson Dee Baumgardner died Thursday evening, May 11, at her home after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were conducted from the United Presbyterian Church U.S.A. in Cottonwood Falls at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 15. The Rev. Cheryl Lunday officiated. The music was ministered by Larry Bucher and Donna Hayden, and also by Myrtle Hainline, Tom Bell and Joe Bell. Casketbearers were John Rufener, Harold Trayer, Whitt Laughridge, Pascal A. Roniger, Lee W. Collinsworth and Steve Evans. Honorary casketbearers were Jesse Miser, Gary Huth and Phil Randolph. Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Delores Baumgardner was born November 11, 1923 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. The daughter of Homer and Goldie Ervin Gibson, she spent 3 years of her life in Oklahoma before moving to Kansas. Delores was married to Gene L. Baumgardner of Cottonwood Falls on July 15, 1941 in Junction City. They lived the first five years together in various states while Gene was with the Armed Services, part of his time in the European Theater of War. Delores worked part-time as relief Clerk for the City of Cottonwood Falls and later as librarian for 22 years at the Burnley Memorial Library. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Embroidery Club, Kensington Club, U.P.W. and Martha Circle. She was an avid China Painter of which she was quite interested with memberships in the Flint Hills China Painters and the Historical Society. While going South for 9 years Dee taught china painting and also tutored LD children at a Harlingen, Texas, school through the "HOSTS" program.
Children born of Delores and Gene were Barbara Ann Chidester and Teresa Lynn Hanneman; four grandchildren: Kevin Lynn Chidester (I.B.M. Training School) of Grapevine, Texas, Terry Ray Chidester (Air Corp) of Grand Forks, North Dakota; Brian and Cherie Chidester of the home in Pawhuska, Okla., and one child, of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hanneman, Darrin Hanneman of Bailey, Colo.
Dee is survived by her husband, Gene, of the home; two daughters: Barbara Chidester of Pawhuska and Teresa Hanneman of Bailey, Colo.; her mother of Eureka; three sisters; Winnie Lovett and Mary Evans of Wichita, and Goldie Williamson of Kent, Wash.; a brother, Bill Gibson of Pittsburg; five grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Evans, Wichita; Joel and Dorothy Hanneman, Peabody; Wendy Baumgardner, Boyce and Connie Baumgardner, Emporia.
The Baumgardner family request memorial contributions be made to the Chase County Emergency Medical Services or the Home Health Services of Chase County in care of the Brown-BennettAlexander Funeral Home.
