Baumgardner, Lula Marie
Lula Marie Baumgardner, 85, of Kansas City, Mo., died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Truman Lakewood Care Centre.
The daughter of Isaac and Nora Merritt, she was born April 15, 1919, in Emporia. She grew up in Cottonwood Falls and returned to live there from 1979 to 2000.
Her husband, Gene
Baumgardner, died earlier.
Mrs. Baumgardner was
a member of the Lions Club and a senior center volunteer.
Mrs. Baumgardner was a certified medication aide for many years before she worked as a private-duty home-care provider.
She is survived by four sons, Ray Woolard of Phoenix, Ariz., Robert Nelson of Belton, Mo., Steven Nelson of Independence, Mo. and Dennis Nelson of Kansas City, Mo.; eight grandchild
dren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Beverly and a brother, Merle Merritt died earlier.
The service was Oct. 9, 2004, in Prairie Grove Cemetery at Cottonwood Falls.
