Bielman, Mrs. J. M.
Mrs. J. M. Bielman died at her home in this city Wednesday, August 27th, following an illness of several weeks. There are now probably few women living in Chase county who have experienced the pioneer days and their hardships and privations as fell to the lot of Mrs. Bielman who with her husband and small children first came to the county forty-three ears ago.
Born in Ohio, Mrs. Bielman later removed to Iowa where in the late sixties they undertook the trip to Kansas. As all new settlers of those days, they of course came through in "prairie Schooner" and this trip was one never forgotten by the family for the country was wild and unsettled in those days and fear of the Indians and of robbers was no small thing to be considered in such an undertaking.
Ever since their coming to the county, Strong City and vicinity has been their home. Mr. Bielman died fifteen years ago, and now at the death of the mother and wife, there are left five children. They are George and Mary Bielman, of Seattle, Washington; Joe Bielman, of New Mexico; Edmond Bielman of Kansas City and L F Bielman of near Cottonwood Falls. The funeral was held Friday afternoon, August 29th at St Anthony's church in this city after which burial was made in the Catholic Cemetery. Mrs. Bielman's death has brought sorrow to the many old neighbors and acquaintance made through her long residence here.

DEATH OF MRS. J. M. BIELMAN
The death of Mrs. J. M. Bielman which occured at her home in Strong City last Wednesday removes one of the early settlers of the county. Mrs. Bielman was eighty-one years old and had lived in Strong City for more than forty years, coming to Chase County with her husband in the early sixties. They made the trip from Iowa in a wagon train and like all other early settlers encountered bands of Indians on their long journey but they suffered little at the hands of the Indians who were semi-hostile and on friendly terms with the whites. The Bielman's were among the first settlers in Strong City.
Mr. Bielman died some fifteen years ago. The aged mother is survived by four sons who are Joe Bielman of New Mexico, Edmond Bielman of Kansas City, George Bielman of Seattle and Louis Bielman who lives east of town. The funeral services were held Friday morning at the Catholic church, conducted by Father Desselcamp, and interment was made in the catholic cemetery.
