Books, Cyrus

Gone Home.

Cyrus Books was born in Dalphin county, Pennsylvania, July 16, 1833, and died' at his home in Toledo, Chase county, Kansas, July 9, 1901. He was married to Susan Saner, July 2, 1854, who survives him. He was the father of 11 children and step-father of one, all of whom are living with exception of one who died a year ago, 6 of them being permitted to be at his bedside during his last hours. He came to Kansas twenty-two years ago settling in Marshall county, twelve years later he moved to his present home.

Two years after his marriage he joined the United Brethren church, and 15 years ago he united with the Methodist church and has ever been a faithful and consistant member, he bore his last sickness with a wonderful degree of patience, and was fully prepared, and sacredly to' his memory we use these lines:

"Long happy years to thee had been allotted,Ere thou west summoned to thy final rest, But few have left a record so unspotted, a life so blameless, and a name so blest."
