Bottiger, Caroline Paul

Death of Mrs. W. P. Bottiger.

Mrs. Caroline Bottiger wife of W. P. Bottiger died at her home near Plymouth last Thursday, August 10, following a short illness of a little over a week. The cause of her death was blood-poisoning. The funeral services were held at the family home near Plymouth, Sunday morning at 10:00 after which the remains were brought to this city where interment was made in the Prairie Grove Cemetary. Rev. Braden of this city preached the sermon.

Mrs. Bottiger whose maiden name was Caroline Paul was born at Millersburg, Pa., on January 28, 1854. She grew to womanhood there and in February of the year 1870 was united in marriage to William Preston Bottiger. After their marriage, Pennsylvania continued to be their home for fourteen years when they came to Kansas. They have since lived here and most of the 32 years since that time has been spent in Chase county.

They are the parents of twelve children, ten girls and two boys, two daughters being dead. The children who survive are William Bottiger, of Saffordville; Harry Bottiger of Council Grove; Mrs, T. B. White; of this city; Mrs. Emma Osborne of Council Grove; Mrs. F. L. Hatch, of Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Carrie Stewart, of San Antonio, Texas; Mrs. Ive,Stewart, of Gracemont, Oklahoma; Mrs. J. H. Handweek;of Kansas City; Mrs. J. W, Bryant, of Marionville, Mo., and Mrs. Shelby Cross, of Laclede, Mo.; Mrs. Bottiger is also serviced by fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

When a girl of sixteen years, Mrs. Bottiger united with the Luthern Church near Millersburg, Pa. Throughout her life she has been a kind mother and a faithful wife. She will be sadly missed by the husband she leaves and the children and many friends who knew her so well. To these is given, the sincere sympathy of all.

MRS W P BOTTIGER DEAD

Caroline Paul was born at Millersburg, Pa., Jan 28, 1854. She was married to William Preston Bottiger at Millersburg, Pa., in Feb., 1870. After the marriage they lived in Pennsylvania till the year 1884 when they came to Kansas where they have since made their home.

To this union were born 'twelve children, ten girls and two boys. two girls have gone on before, one at the age of 6 months, the other at the age of 19 years.

She died at her home in Plymouth, Kans., Aug. 10, 1916, at the age of 62 years, 6 months and 13 days.

She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, two sons, William of Saffordville, Kans., Harry of Council Grove, Kans., and: eight girls, Mrs. T. B. White of Cottonwood Falls, Mrs. Emma Osborne of Council Grove, Mrs. F. L. Hatch of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Carrie Stewart of San Antonio, Texas, Mrs. lvie Stewart of Gracemont, Okla., Mrs. J. H. Handwerk of Kansas City, Mrs. J. W. Bryant of Marionville, Mo., Mrs, Shelby Cross of Laclede, Mo., and also fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. When a girl of 16 years she united with the Lutheran church near Millersburg, Pennsylvania.
