Brown, Helen D Greene HELEN D. BROWN
Graveside funeral services were conducted for Helen D. Brown on Saturday, December 20 in the Strong City Cemetery. The Rev. Kent Rogers officiated.
Mrs. Brown died suddenly at her home in Strong City on Thursday, December 18.
Helen D. Greene was born in Kansas City, Missouri on October 28, 1896 to Frank and Ora Harvey Greene.
She married Ross Greene in January of 1922 and later married William T. Brown on August 26, 1942 in Emporia. She was a homemaker and a member of the Strong City United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women of the church. She was also a member of the Russell-Blackburn American Legion Post 123 Auxiliary.
She leaves three sons: Richard Green, Escondito, Calif., Wallace Greene, Vista, Calif., and Donald Greene, Hemet, Calif; three daughters, Beth Truax of Apache Junction, Ariz., Melezent Davis, Elmdale, and Virgelene Ray, Jacksonville, Fla. Four stepsons also survive, James W. Brown, Council Grove, Kenneth L. Brown, Strong City, Willard Brown, Elmdale, and Charles Brown, Carson City, Nev., along with two stepdaughters, Theda Noel, New Orleans, La., and Elizabeth Kohlman of Strong City. One sister, Mildred Klamm, Cottonwood Falls, also survives.
Mrs. Brown left 51 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren to mourn her death. She was preceded in death by two sons, Ross Eugene Greene and Wayne Dee Greene and three stepsons, Howard, Harry, and Robert Brown.
The Brown family suggested memorial contributions to the Chase County Emergency Medical Services of the United Methodist Church of Strong City in care of the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home who were in charge of arrangements.
