Brumbaugh, William Harold

William Harold Brumbaugh, 89, Wichita, died at St Francis Hospital on June 12, 2007.

Mr. Brumbaugh was born May 25, 1918, in Clements and he was the oldest son of William A and Myrtle L (Merritt) Brumbaugh. He was a member of the Wichita North Ridge Friends Church. Harold attended Homestead and Forest Hill grade schools and graduated from Matfield Green High School in 1937. In 1938 he and close friend Gilbert Bond decided to drive to California where they worked for most of a year. By this time he had become homesick and missed the girl he left behind so he returned to the Homestead area in 1939.

He married Dorothy Marie Baker in Dec 1939 at the Friends Parsonage, Emporia. Harold farmed in Homestead Township until 1943, then in Marion County until 1949 and Greenwood County until the spring of 1951. The family moved to Wichita when he went to work for the Coleman Company in 1951. He retired after 32 years.

Surviving him are two sons Jerry, Alexandria, VA, Lyle, Augusta, KS, 4 daughters Dianna Peters, Columbus, IN, Leta McGuiness, Knoxville, TN, Marcia Sanders, Cherokee Village, AR, Linda Flores, Knoxville, TN, 20 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren and numerous Aunts, Uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy in 1994, his parents William and Myrtle, brother Kenneth Merle, sister Betty Lou and one son Gary Leroy who died at birth.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, Jun 16, at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls with Rev Francis Mckinney, North Ridge Friends Church officiating. Burial will be at Homestead Cemetery.
