Burnette, Georgia Lavota

Georgia Lavota Burnette, 85, Cedar Point, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.

The daughter of Charles Delbert and Lillie Brandley Broiles, she was born Dec. 3, 1918, in the Homestead Community. She graduated from Clements High School in 1936.

She married Ernest James in 1940; he died in 1959. She married Lester T Burnette in July 1964; he died in September 1992.

She worked 36.5 years for Beech Aircraft in Wichita, where she moved in 1942. She retired in 1978 and she and her husband moved to a farm near Cedar Point.

Mrs. Burnette is survived by a stepdaughter, Betty Erickson of Orland, Calif.; and a stepson, James Burnette of Fountain Valley, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

Three sisters, Helen Scobee Masterson. Hazel Park and Hester Broiles, died earlier.

Funeral services were March 13, 2004, in the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls. The Rev. Dallas Evans conducted the service. Burial was in Homestead Cemetery at Homestead Community. Memorial contributions to the Homestead Cemetery may be sent in care of the funeral home, 201 Cherry St., Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
