Burton, Dennis Dale

Dennis Dale Burton, 60, died Thursday, June 30, 2005, at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.

Mr Burton was a former Chase County undersheriff. He had been an industrial mechanic at Tyson in Emporia for more than 19 years.

The son of John Edward and Mae Sherffius Burton, he was born Feb. 21, 1945, at Emporia. He married Deanna Schmidt Oct. 28, 1988, at Olpe. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Adam Hagemann, Allen and Jared Hagemann, McPherson; a daughter, Renea Trujillo, Emporia; his mother, Mae Burton, Emporia; three brothers, Dallas Burton, Berryton, Vaden Burton, Sloan, Iowa and Delwin Burton, Burton; a sister, Velva Burton Carter, Lecompte, La.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated July 5, 2005, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Olpe, with Father Tim Haberkorn conducting the service. Interment was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Olpe. Memorials are suggested to the Dennis Burton memorial Scholarship, or the St. Joseph Endowment Fund.
