Byram, Benjamin Franklin

Ben Byram, 87, formerly of Cedar Point, died Sept. 5, 2002, at Davenport, Iowa.

Benjamin Franklin Byram, 87, of Rock Island, formerly of Lynn Center, died Sept. 5, 2002, at Genesis Medical Center, Davenport, Iowa.

A memorial service was Sept. 7, 2002, at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, 1301 4th St., Orion, with the Rev. Mike Massa officiating. Burial was in Western Township Cemetery, Orion. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Ophiem.

Benjamin was born Oct. 31, 1914, in Cedar Point to Joseph Lee and Margaret Zickefoose Byram. He married Leona M. Bloomberg Sept. 24, 1940, in Ophiem. She preceded him in death May 19, 1989.

Benjamin owned and oper- ated Byram Machine Tiling for 42 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Ophiem Lutheran Church.

Survivors include daugh- ters, Judy Kay Nelson, Freeport, Ill.; Jane LaVey Samuelson, Atlanta, Ga.; sis- ters, Esther Whibley, Laurel, Md., Ola Pracht, Cottonwood Falls, Lila Windler, Wichita; brother, Arch Byram, Emporia; five grandchildren; two great- grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruth and Twila; and brother, Lemuel Wade.
