Campbell, Mary Jane "Jane" Boyd

DEATH OF MRS. JANE CAMPBELL

Mrs. Jane Campbell, who has been ill at her home in this city for several weeks, died Sunday moring, March 23rd. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church in this city at 3:00 o'clock Monday afternoon, Rev, Geo. W. Braden, the pastor, preaching the sermon. Interment was in Prairie Grove cemetery: beside the grave of her husband.

The Campbell family came to Kansas about fifty-four years ago and the most of that time has been spent in Chase county. Mr. Campbell's death ocurred about ten years ago.

Mary Jane Boyd was born August 18th 1847 in Coles County, Ill. On October 19th, 1865, she was married to Jack Campbell, in Coles County, Illinois where they lived for sometime after their marriage. To this union was born ten children, four of whom, together with the husband and father, have preceeded her to the Great Beyond. The children who have passed on are Mrs. Joel A. Cooper, Andrew J. Camphell, Hattie May Campbell and Mrs. Lizzie Young, The children living are Robert Campbell, Americus, Kansas; Joseph Campbell, Cottonwood Falls; George Campbell, Elmdale; John W. Campbell, Cottonwood Falls; Mrs. John Mickeljerd, San Diego, California, and Zack Campbell, Osawatomie, Kansas.

Early in their married life Mr. and Mrs. Campbell united with the Methodist Church at Plymouth, Kanasas, she still being a member. Mrs. Campbell- was a loving mother and her visits to her different children's homes were bright spots in their lives, as her sunny disposition created an atmosphere of happiness wherever she was.

Mrs. Jane Campbell Dies Early Sunday

Has Been Resident of Chase County Since Coming Here 54 Years Ago.

A resident of Chase County for 54 years, Mrs. Jane Campbell of Cottonwood Falls, died early Sunday morning after a sickness of several weeks. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist church in Cottonwood Falls and interment was in Prairie Grove cemetery. Rev. George W. Braden, pastor of the Methodist church, conducted the services.

Mrs. Campbell was born in Cole County, Ill., August 16, 1648, and came to Chase County 64 years ago. She has lived here since. Five sons and one daughter survive Mrs. Campbell. They are John and Joe Campbell of Cottonwood Falls, George Campbell of Elmdale; Mrs John Mickeljerd of San Diego, California; Robert Campbell of Americus and Zachariah Campbell of Osawatomie.
