Campbell, Louella Charmian Herr

Louella Charmian Campbell, 86, of Arkansas City, died Aug. 11, 2002, at the Presbyterian Manor Health Care Unit. Graveside Services were scheduled for Aug. 14, 2002, at the Springside Cemetery. The Reverend Mark Boxman officiated.

Louella Charmian Herr was born March 13, 1916, in Coldwater to Homer E and Lillie Mae (Barber) Herr. She was reared and educated in Chase County, graduating from Cottonwood Falls High School in 1936.

She married Edward Joseph Campbell on April 3, 1937, in Chase County. The couple lived in Chase County, and then in the Dexter Area for a short time before moving to Arkansas City in the Mid 1940's She and her sister owned and operated the Little Mexico Gift Shop for several years, but she spent most of her time as homemaker raising her children. She was well known for her Iris gardens and was a member of the Iris Club of Ponca City and the Author's Club of Kansas.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis McConnell of South Haven and Loretta Walker of Arkansas City; five sisters, Vivian Heathman of Robers, Ark.. Thelma Baker, Velma Leath and Leatha Herr all of Arkansas City and Doris Heathman of Bonneville, Ark.; six grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband. Edward in 1994, one son, Wallace Earl Campbell and a brother, Irving Herr.

A memorial has been established with the hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements were made through the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City. Online condolences may be made at www.ridnt-erdman.com
