Death of Neil Campbell

The funeral of Neil Campbell was held at his home, six miles southeast of Plymouth, Wednesday, Feb. 2nd. The services were conducted by Rev. Sam'l Finch after which interment was made in the Plymouth cemetery.

Mr. Campbell was born Jul 16th 1832 in Argylshire, Scotland. He came to America in 1852 locating at Mayfield, DeKolb, Illinois. In 1857 he moved to Chase county, settling on his present farm near Plymouth where he had since lived. He was closely allied with the earlier history and development of this part of the state and was assessor when his territoy comprised all of what is now Lyon county. One of the first saw and grist mills in this section of the country was erected with his assistance.

Mr. Campbell has five sisters and one brother of which three sisters and the brother survive him. Owing to birthright to the church of Scotland, he was baptised in infancy in that faith, later joing the United Presbyterian church at this place.

Misffortune visited the deceased early in life when he suffered a paraletic stroke in the fall of 1891 which made him an invalid since that time and although confied to his bed and greater part of this time sad practically be he bore his suffering with fortitutde.
