Carmons, Cyrus "Nonnie"
WILLIAM ROMIGH IS OUT ON $10,000 BOND
Chase County Farmer Who Shot and Killed Nonnie Carmons Was Released Thursday.
William Romigh, the farmer near Cottonwood Falls, who last Wednesday afternoon shot and killed Nonnie Carmons, colored, in a pool room here, was released last Thursday afternoon in a bond of $10,000.
The charge made against Romigh was of first degree murder. He also was charged with the fatal shooting in the verdict of the coronor's jury. The trial will perhaps be heard in the November term of the district court.
Funeral of Cyrus Carmons:
The funeral of Cyrus "Nonnie" Carmons, colored, was held here Saturday afternoon, from the Second Baptist Church. The services were conducted by the Rev. Ramey, of Junction City, who is moderator of the Smoky Hill District. A large number of friends and relatives were in attendance at the funeral. Burial was in the Cottonwood Falls Cemetery.
Cyrus Carmons was born in Strong City, Nobember 21 1890 and died October 12 1927 being 30 years 10 months, and 21 days of age. He had lived here all his life. He was a beteran of the World War and saw service overseas.
"Nonnie" as he was always known around here, is survived by one brother Lee Carmons, of this city, and one sister, Mrs. Blanche Mason, of Arkansas City, Kansas, who with her husband came here to attend the funeral and visit a few days.
