Major (Ret) Cartter
WAR VETERAN DIES IN HOSPITAL
Major (Ret.) Paul H Cartter, who had lived in recent years with a daughter, Mrs. Virginia White, in Cottonwood Falls,died Saturday in St. Mary's Hospital, Emporia, where hehad been a patient nearly two weeks.
Major Cartter was the son of Dr. William M and Lila Villar Cartter. He was born October 10, 1881, in Cottonwood Falls, and was married to Katherine Kennedy in 1901. Major Cartter served in the Spanish American War and in World War I, and had lived in Wichita for several years after his retirement. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Surviving him are one son, William Cartter, Weatherford,Tex.; his daughter, Mrs. White; two sisters, Elizabeth Gregory and Tottie Maul, Cottonwood Falls, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Military graveside services were held at 2 p. m. Tuesday in Prairie Grove Cemetery. They were conducted by personnel from Fort Riley. The Croy Funeral Home, here was in charge
of arrrangements.
