Casey, Maurice

Former Chase County resi- dent Maurice Casey, 74, of Marion died Aug. 25, 2002, at his home. Mr. Casey, a farmer and rancher, moved from his ranch in Chase County to Marion in 1983. Maurice Casey, the son of, Hugh and Golda "Nine" Casey, was born July 29, 1928, at Shattuck, Okla. He married Charlotte Makovec on June 7, 1955, at Strong City. She sur- vives. Mr. Casey was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Marion. He also was a member of the Midwestern Polka Club and the Kansas Chapter of a polka organiza- tion. Other survivors include two sons, Gerald Lee Casey of Marion and Larry Gene Casey of Lincolnville; two daughters, Donna Lynn May and Rhonda Sue Carlson, both of Marion; two sisters, Golda Mae Freund of Lebo and Rosemary Winter of Greeley, Colo.; eight grand- children; and a great-grand- child. The Mass of Christian Burial was Aug. 28 in the Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial was in Marion Cemetery. The Revs. Steve Gronert and Larry King offici- ated. Donations to the Maurine Casey Memorial Fund may be sent to the Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm St., Marion, KS 6661
