Chamberlain, Mary A. Finney
MRS. HANK CHAMBERLAIN DEAD.
Mrs. Mary A Chamberlain died at her home in Los Angeles, Sunday, December 18, after an illness extending over several years.
Mrs. Chamberlain was Miss Mary A. Finney, born in Worthington, Ohio, in March, 1851. She was a sister of Mrs. Geo. Bays and lived a time with Mr. and Mrs. Hays south of Bazaar before her marriage in July, 1871, to Mr. H. A. (Hank) Chamberlain who then lived at Strong City.
Mr. and Mrs. Chamberlain made their home at Strong City for about twenty years when they moved to Topeka, where Mr. Chamberlain was claim agent for the Santa Fe. Mr. Chamberlain retired about ten years ago and they moved to Los Angeles, which has since been their home.
Mr. and Mrs. Chamberlain had two sons, Frank and Charles, who grew to manhood and both were employed by the Santa Fe, but both sons died before Mr. and Mrs. Chamberlain went to California.
Although Mrs. Chamberlain had been an invalid for many years and had lost her eyesight for some time, she retained her mental faculties and her cheerful disposition.
The funeral was held Thursday, December 14, and the body was cremated. Mr. L. M. Swope writes us that there were many Chase county people now living in Los Angeles, who attended the funeral. Mrs. Grace Blackburn, of this city, who is a niece of Mrs. Chamberlain, received word of Mrs. Chamberlain’s death last week.
