Chambers, Marian Rosalie

Marian Rosalie Wood Chambers, 93, died on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at an Arlington, Texas, care center. Marian R. Wood was born May 7, 1911, in Cottonwood Falls, to David and Jennie Rogler Wood.

After high school graduation in Chase County, she enrolled at Kansas State University and was a member of the Kansas State Women's Rifle Team. During her first year at Kansas State, she was the #1 shot in Kansas and #3 shot in the United States. Later she entered the Newman Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and graduated as a registered nurse. She served as a school nurse at the Planeview schools in Wichita.

She was a former member of the Cottonwood Falls United Methodist Church where she was baptized. She was now a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Arlington, Texas.

She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie Jones, of Arlington, Texas, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Prairie Grove Cemetery in Cottonwood Falls. Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home was in charge of the local arrangements.
