Clements, Ann Mary McDowell
Death of Mrs. Clements at her home west of Strong City at 8:30 Tuesday morning, June 12th, death being due to a blood clot of the heart. Mrs. Clements, however, had been in failing health for a long time.
It was just thirteen weeks ago that Mr. Clements' death occured. It is
remarkable that this couple, after living together for more than fifty years, should depart this life within the short space of thirteen weeks of each other.
The funeral service were held at 2:30 o'clock at the Clements home Thursday afternoon, Rev. A. J. Seigle, of this place, preaching the sermon. Interment was made in the Prairie Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Clements' maiden name was Anna Mary McDowell. She was born in Ireland, coming to this country with her parents when but two years of age. Her early life was spent in Ohio. The family moved to Kansas in 1871. This county had since been her home. She was married to
Robert Clements here in 1873. Had she lived until the 12th of next month she would have attained her eightieth year.
Two children survive, Mrs. Chas. Simmons and Miss Bella Clements. Two children died in infancy.
Besides her children Mrs. Clements leaves two brothers, C. C. McDowell, of Lawerence, formerly of this place, and Dr. W. D. McDowell, of Chicago.

Long Time Resident Of County Is Dead
Mrs. Robert Clements Passed Tuesday Morning 13 Weeks After Her Husband.
This county lost another of its old time residents Tuesday morning when Mrs. Robert Clements died at her home west of Strong City. Death was due to heart failure. The funeral services will be at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the home, and interment will be in the Praire Grove cemetery. A. J. Seigle will have charge of the services.
Surviving Mrs. Clements are two daughters, Mrs. C. L. Simons and Miss Bella Clements, both of Strong City, and two brothers, C. C. McDowell of Lawrence and Dr. W. D. McDowell of Chicago, Ill. Her husband died 13 weeks to the day and almost to the hour before Mrs. Clements.
Anna Mary McDowell was born in Ireland, July 12, 1848.
She was brought to the United States when she was two years of age. The family came to St. Clairsville, O., and then in 1871 moved to Chase County.
She married to Robert Clements in 1873 on the farm where she died Tuesday and where since 1873 the Clements have made their home.
