Cook, Elreene

Elreene Cook, 72, died Sept. 13, 2002, at her home, in Cottonwood Falls, after a lengthy illness. Services were Sept. 17, 2002, at Brown- Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home. Pastor Rick Smith offi- ciated. Interment was at Prairie Grove Cemetery.

Violet Elreene Potter, the daughter of William A. and Clara E. Archer Potter, was born June 21, 1930, at rural Cottonwood Falls. She married Clifford Cook on April 15, 1956, in Miami, Okla. She was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist church.

She is survived by her hus- band; five sons, Jeffrey Cook of Jonquin, Texas; Kevin Cook of Virginia Beach, Va.; Tom Cook of Emporia; Dean Cook of Haysville; and Jerry Gonzales of Canton, Mich; a daughter, Patricia Rhoads of Emporia; four brothers, Lee Potter of Harveyville; Fred Potter and Richard Potter of Strong City; and Robert Potter of Tonganoxie; one sister, Esther Christlieb of Newport News, Va.; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four sons, Clifford William Cook, Randy Dale Cook, Dale Lynn Cook and Mark Cook; six brothers Bill, Carl, Les, Gene, Webb, and infant brother, John; and two sisters, Marie Turner and Letha Applegate. Memorials are suggested to Hand-in Hand Hospice, in care of the funeral home, 201 Cherry St., Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845 or the Chase County Make-a-Wish sent in care of Melinda Barrett, Rt. 1, Box 67C, Cottonwood Falls, KS. 66845.
