Cooper, Milburn M "Dutch"
M. M. Cooper Is Taken In Death
Death Of Lifetime Resident Of Chase County Follows that Of His Wife By Only 17 Days.
Milburn M, "Dutch" Cooper, 72, a lifelong resident of Chase County, died Monday in the Newman Memorial Hospital, Emporia, where he had undergone surgery the same day. Ile had been hospitalized since the day of his wife's funeral, August 31.
Mr. and Mrs. Cooper had been preparing to move to their home In Cottonwood Falls which they purchased some time ago, when Mrs. Cooper died unexpectedly August 28.
The Coopers farmed for many years near Cottonwood Falls before moving to a farm in the Saffordville area. Mr. Cooper retired seven years ago.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. in this Wednesday morning in the Brown-Bennett Funeral Home with the
Rev. Wilbur Purvis of the Methodist Church officiating. James Bell sang, accompanied by Mrs. Charles Ireland.
Pallbearers were Carl Nurnberg,
James Lind, Gene Lind, Carl Beyer, George Gallmeister and Ronald Gallmeister. Burial was in the Bazaar cemetery.
Milburn M. Cooper was born near Cottonwood Falls February 28, 1892, a son of Joel and Rhoda Ann Campbell Cooper, and died September 14, 1964.
On March 4, 1918, he was married to Bessie Blackburn at Bazaar and they had since lived in the Cottonwood Falls and Saffordville vicinities. Mr. Cooper was a veteran of World War 1.
Surviving him are three sons, William J. Cooper, Strong City; W. Keith Cooper, Garland, Tex., and Ivan Cooper, Cottonwood Falls; one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Marian) Ayers, Clements; one brother Frank Cooper, Cottonwood Falls; two sisters, Mrs, Paul Walle, Wichita, and Mrs, Francis Bray, Cottonwood Falls, and 15 grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister and
three brothers.
Attending the rites from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Keith Cooper, Garland, Tex.; Mr. and Mrs. Paul J. Walle Wichita; Miss Janie Ayers, Manhattan; Mrs. Desmond Willhite, Ottawa; Glen Willhite, Wellsville.
