CONCERNING FRANK CRAWFORD
The death of Frank Crawford, formerly of Clements, which occured in a railroad accident near Hereford, Texas, Thursday, November 22nd, was a sad shock to his relatives and many Chase County friends.
Mr. Crawford left this county about five years ago and entered railroad work. He was a brakeman for the Santa Fe and his home was in Amarillo. The accident which resulted in his death occured while he was on duty.
The remains were brought to Clements on Monday of last week where funeral services were held, following a previous service at Amarillo. Rev Boyer, of the Florence Christian Church, preached the serman for the funeral at Clements which was held in the Presbyterian church. Interment was in the Clements cemetery.
A touching tribute which was paid the deceased was the part which members of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen of Lodge No. 608 of Amarillo took. Accompanying Mrs. Crawford was daughter from Amarillo was the conductor on the same train on which Mr. Crawford worked, also a member of the Amarillo Lodge.
Frank Crawford, son of Joseph L. Crawford and Mary E Crawford, was born in Clements, Kansas, February 5th 1878, and passed away at Hereford, Texas, Nobember 22nd 1928 at the age of 50 years, 9 months, and 17 days.
On September 30, 1915 he was united in marriage to Gertrude Irene Viles. They made their home in Clements, Kansas, until their removal to Amarillo, Texas a few years ago. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen Lodge No 608, at Amarillo, Texas.
He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, Mrs. Frank Crawford, adopted daughter, Evelyn Crawford, two brothers, Charles W and Thomas G Crawford and three sisters, Mrs. Celia Hawkins, Mrs. Margaret Amanda Byram, and Mrs. Hortense Byram. His parents, three sisters and four brothers have passed on.
