Crawford, J. L.
J. L. Crawford, of Tolt, Wash., but formerly of Wonsevu, was fatally injured while working in a Tolt lumber mill on September 3rd, 1919.
Several men including Mr. Crawford were pushing a truck loaded with lumber to another part of the mill, when one Wheel broke through the floor, throwing the lumber on him causing internal injuries. He was taken to his home, and while three doctors attended him nothing could be done.
His wife, Mrs. Alice Crawford, and children were constantly with him, also a sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Byram, hoping there would be something they could do, but he passed away September 22nd. While suffering constantly, he was conscious to the last.
Besides a widow, he leaves to mourn his loss one daughter, Mrs. Flora Eastman, of Tolt; four sons, Warner Crawford of Snohomish, Miram Crawford of Everett, Joseph L. Crawford, jr., and Ernest Crawford of Tolt; also four sisters and three brothers; one half sister and two half brothers; the majority of whom live in Chase county.
The Masons laid him to rest in the G. A. R. Cemetery near Snohomish, Washington.
