Crawshaw, Ronnie L

Ronnie L. Crawshaw, 59, Cottonwood Falls, died at his home Sunday morning, Feb. 13, 2005.

Ronnie Lee Crawshaw, son of Woodrow and Nora Teel Crawshaw, was born July 13, 1945, on the family farm near Topeka. He married Rebecca Stein at Maple Hill in 1976. They later divorced. He later married Georgia Whitehurst, she survives of the home.

He graduated in 1963 from Maple Hill High School. He attended Pittsburg State University and Hutchinson Community College, Hutchinson, where he was a member of the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Harveyville Volunteer Fire Department and the Harveyville Lions Club. He served as a member of the United States Navy, obtaining the rank of Boatswain's Mate 3rd Class. He worked as a Freight Carman for ATSF Railway and as a service technician for Contel/GTE. He began working at Birch Telecom in 1998 at Emporia and was presently the Field Supervisor of Telecom Services.

He is also survived by a daughter, Amber Leigh Crawshaw, Manhattan; a step-daughter, Natasha "Vern" Meader, Manchester, Iowa; step-son, Rick Payton, McGregor, Iowa; and three brothers, Woody Crawshaw, Merrian, Les Crawshaw, Mayetta and Joe Crawshaw, Newport, R.I.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Herb Crawshaw.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at 10 a.m. at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Pastor Melody Kimbrel, Cottonwood Falls United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Bazaar Cemetery, Bazaar. Graveside Military Honors will be presented by a Honors Detail of the United States Army, Fort Riley.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. A memorial has been established for Mr. Crawshaw and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, 605 State St., Emporia, KS 66801.
