Crook, Bertha Nauetz

Bertha LaRae Crook, 88, a resident of the Holiday Resort,died Thursday, July 8, 2004, at the center. Mrs. Crook was an aide and, later, a licensed practical nurse at St. Mary's Hospital for many years before she retired.

The daughter of Charles and Emma Davis Nauertz, she was born June 28, 1916, in Aliceville. She married George H. Crook on May 17, 1947, in Fort Scott. He died Dec. 26, 1970, in Emporia.

Mrs. Crook was a member of the Over 40's Club and the Bluestem Swingers dance club.
BR> She is survived by three daughters, Peggy Forbeck of Strong City, Nancy Haag of Olive Branch, Miss. and Patsy Anderson of Winterset, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A sister, Mildred True and a brother, Earl Nauertz, died earlier.
B The service at Hillside Cemetery at Toledo was private. The Rev. Jim Slack of the Hope Community Church conducted the service. Memorial contributions to the Emporia Friends of the Zoo may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, KS 66801.
