Davidson, Waunita M.

Waunita Maxine Davidson, 73, died May 5, 2002, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia. Mrs. Davidson, a hairdresser, was the former owner and operator of the Model Beauty Salon and also worked at the Hi Style Beauty Salon before she retired.

Waunita Maxine Foster, the daughter of Bert B and Dora Amelia Mitchell Foster, was born Jan 12, 1929, at Elk City. She married Mervin Vern Davidson on Aug 12, 1949, at Olathe. He died July 9, 1999. Mrs. Davidson was a member of the Grace Methodist Church. She was a member of Chapter 25 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Cottonwood Falls; was instrumental in compiling the history of all Past Honored Queens of Job's Daughters Bethel 4 in Emporia; was past Worthy Matron of Saffordville Chapter 378 of the Order of Eastern Star; was a former member of the National Hairdressers Association; and served in many offices of the organizations.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty Lauppe of Emporia and Diana J Peak of Wichita; a son, John Allen Davidson of Topeka; three sisters, Wanda McElwain of Elk City, Treva Fehr of Topeka and Lavelle Groundwater of Temecula, Calif.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A sister, Pauline Branson; and four brothers, Fred Foster, Emmet Foster, Wayne Foster adn Bert Foster Jr., died earlier. The funeral was May 9, 2002, in Charter Funerals-Emporia Chapel. The Rev. Gary Harms conducted the service. Burial was in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions in OES Chapter 25 of Cottonwood Falls may be sent to the funeral home.
