Dieker, Gerald H
Gerald H. Dieker, 73,
died at Presbyterian Manor
in Emporia, Wednesday,
Nov. 19, 2003. A Rosary was
recited by Father Jeffrey
Fasching Friday, Nov. 21,
at St. Anthony's Catholic
Church, in Strong City. A
Mass of Christian Burial
was Saturday, Nov. 22, at
St. Anthony's Catholic
Church, celebrated by
Father Daniel Gardner of
Sacred Heart Catholic
Church. Interment was at
Prairie Grove Cemetery,
Cottonwood Falls.
Gerald H. Dieker, the
son of Herman and Lavina
Plunkett Dieker, was born
April 12, 1930, in
Westphalia. He and Mary
R. Lickteig were married
May 10, 1949, at
Westphalia. She died
March 31, 1999.
He owned and operated
the Dieker Oil Company in
two locations, Strong City
and Cottonwood Falls, and
made bulk deliveries
throughout the county,
until his retirement in
1984.
He was a member of
St. Anthony's Catholic
Church and Knights of
Columbus, a former member of the Lion's Club, and
former mayor of both
Strong City and
Cottonwood Falls.
He is survived by three
sons, Randy Dieker of
Anthony, Steve Dieker of
Flower Mound, Texas, and
Tim Dieker of Topeka; a
daughter, Deb Haglund of
Strong City; a brother, Tom
Dieker of Westphalia; four
sisters, Betty Tastove of
Westphalia, Alice Frisch of
Sunnyvale, Calif., Lorene
Alterband and Shirley
Henderson, both of
Lawrence; a sister-in-law,
Arlene Winter of Colwich;
16 grandchildren; and 11
great-grandchildren.
He
was preceded in death by
his parents; two brothers,
Wilfred Dieker and Francis
Dieker; and a sister, Wilma
Faber.
