Dreler,LeRoy D LeRoy D. Dreler, 65, of Newton, died April 17,2002, at his home.
Mr. Dreler was born Dec. 21, 1937, in Newton, to Delbert F and Dorothy M Steiner Dreler. He married Sandra K Roy on Feb. 1, 1958, in Emporia. He was a member of Highland Trinity United Church of Christ, rural Newton. Mr. Dreler was the owner of Squealer's Junction hog feeding operation in rural Newton. He also was a former coach in many Kansas high schools including, Strong City, Marion, Ottawa, Salina South and Peabody High Schools. He was a former assistant coach at Hesston High School and for one season at Bethel College.
LeRoy earned his B A degree in education at Emporia State University and his Master's degree at Kansas State University. While attending K-State he was a graduate assistant for the K-State football team. He was a loyal member of the Harvey County Catbacker's and supported the Fellowship of Christian Atletes at the schools he coached.
He is survived by his wife of the home; mother, Dorothy Hesston; son, James Dreler, Goshen, Ind.; two daughters, Janelle K. Wilke, Derby and Janene McAnulty, Lee's Summit, Mo.; three brothers, Vern F. Dreler, and Galen P Dreler, both of Hesston, and Curt M. Dreler, Baton Rouge, La.; two sisters, Deane Frey, Newton, and Yvonne Mossamore, Ft. Smith, Ark.; and 11 grandchildren. His father died earlier.
The funeral service was April 20,2002, at Highland Trinity United Church of Christ. The Reverend Dr. Paul Wilke, Woodlawn United Methodist Church, Derby, officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Newton. Memorials to Highland Trinity United church of Christ or Central Homecare and Hospice may be sent to Peterson Funeral Home, 215 N. Main, Newton, Ks 67114
