Drinkwater, Harold W
Harold W Drinkwater, 83, of Emporia died at Via Christi/Saint Francis Medical Center, Wichita, on Monday, April 14, 2003.
Harold W Drinkwater was born at Cedar Point on March 22, 1920, the son of Myron Clark and Jessie Maree (Harrison) Drinkwater. He married Ola Rose Park at Emporia on Nov. 15, 1942. She died Nov. 17, 1986. He married Violet Dicke at Emporia on March 21, 1992.
He is survived by his wife of the home; daughters, Jane McAdoo and Winifred Endly, both of Emporia; step-daughter, Carol Dexter, Emporia; sisters, Alice Miller, Newton, and Lou Littler, Sterling; four grandchildren; three step
grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and a step-son.
Mr. Drinkwater worked as a conductor for the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad for 38 years, and retired in May of 1980. He was a member of the United Transportation Union.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion. He was also a member of the First Congregational Church, Emporia, the Masonic Lodge in Florence and the Scottish Rite Bodies in Topeka.
Funeral services will be held at the Roberts -Blue -Barnett
Funeral Home, Emporia, on Thursday, April 17, at 1:30 p.m. The service will be conducted by Pastor Chad Poland, First Congregational Church, Emporia. Interment will be in the Prairie Grove Cemetery, west of Cottonwood Falls. Military graveside services will be conducted by an Honors detail of the United States Army, Fort Riley, as well as Masonic Graveside Honors.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 7 until 8 p.m.
Memorials have been established with the American Cancer Society, or the Hand In Hand Hospice, Emporia, with contributions sent in care of the funeral home.
