Edmonds, James P

Former Elmdale Man Dies

James P. Edmonds, Topeka, formerly of Elmdale and Hymer, died Monday in the Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary in Topeka, conducted by the Rev. Joseph Hughes, executive secretary of the Topeka Council of Churches.

Burial will be in the Elmdale Cemetery. Brown Funeral Home, Cottonwood Falls, is in charge of local arrangements.

James P. Edmonds, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Edmonds, was born May 3rd, 1892, in Emporia, and was married to Juanita Houston in 1913, in Valley Falls.

He and Mrs. Edmonds operated a general store in Hymer for a number of years before moving to Topeka, where he was the treasurer of the Sargent Excavating Company. He was a member of the Wilsey Masonic Lodge 125, A.F. and A.M.

He was preceded in death by one son, Gale H.; and is survived by his wife, of the home; one son, Ed, Evergreen, Colo., and one brother, Cecil, Morro Bay, Calif.
