Eshbaugh, Irene Katheryn Venard

Irene Eshbaugh, 86, died Jan. 18, 2003, at her home in Cottonwood Falls. A memorial service was held Jan. 21, 2003, at the First Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., Cottonwood Falls. The Rev. Pat Ireland officiated. Mrs. Eshbaugh has been cremated. A private family inurnment service at Prairie Grove Cemetery was held following the service.

Irene Katheryn Venard, the daughter of James and Cora Miller Venard, was born Jan. 19, 1916, at Ada. She married Delbert E. Eshbaugh on Sept. 18, 1935, at Manhattan. He died Nov. 21, 1991. She and her husband moved to Cottonwood Falls in 1945. They owned and operated the Eshbaugh Hardware and Sporting Goods store for 20 years and the Eshbaugh Restaurant for years, retiring in 1975.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., Prairie Schooner Mariners, and Presbyterian Women, the ABC Bridge Club (from 1945 until the present), the Cottonwood Falls Country Club and a lifetime member of the Ladies Professional Golf Association.

She is survived by one sister, Ruth Plunkett of Cottonwood Falls (formerly of Gillette, Wyo.) and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Reva Klotzbach and Evelyn Barker; and two brothers, Vic Venard and Elton Venard.

Memorial contributions to the Hand-in-Hand Hospice may be sent in care of the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, Kan.l 66845
