Mrs. H. C. Faris Dies After Long Sickness

Elmdale Resident for 28 Years

Came from Germany When A Young Girl.

Mrs. H C Farris, a resident of Elmdale for the past 28 years, died Friday at her home after a long sickness. Funeral services, conducted by J. M. Hodgkin of Cottonwood Falls, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church in Elmdale and interment was in the Prairie Grove cemetery at Cottonwood Falls.

At the services a quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. Will Schneider, Mrs. Howard Stone and D. A. Macalpine sang. The pallbearers were E. J. Gamer, J A Holmes, W. C. Burch, C. C. Roniger, L. B. Breese and Orville Giger.

Ida M Ritcher was born in Germany, May 14, 1872, and died in Elmdale, December 28, at the age of 56 years, 7 months and 14 days. When 16 years of age she, came to America and made her home with her brother near Buffalo, N. Y. Later she came to Morris County, then to Elmdale.

On June 6, 1900, she was married to Clay Faris. Since her marriage her home has been a part of Elmdale. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, Clay Faris, and one son, Fred Faris. She is also survived by one brother, John Goms, of Council Grove, and five sisters who are Mrs. Robert Hames of Marshville, Can., Mrs. Peter Weber and Mrs. Will Reece of Buffalo, N. Y., Mrs. Byrd Edwards of Broadus, Mont., and Mrs. H. C. Kuhle of Newton. She also leaves 18 nephews and nieces.

When a small child she was baptized in the German Lutheran church and remained a faithful member until after her marriage when she found there was no Lutheran church in Elmdale she joined the Methodist church and has been a faithful worker both in the church and Sunday school for more than 20 years.

Mrs. Faris was a good mother and homemaker and left a host of friends. For months she knew her days were numbered. She was resigned and met death as only a Christian who believes in a resurrection.

The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Methodist church at Elmdale. Interment was in Prairie Grove cemetery on a lot she had selected herself.
