Chase County Obituaries

Foxworthy, Francis Walker Francis Walker Foxworthy was born November 4, 1919 near Elmdale, Kans. On July 6, 1941, he was drowned in a pond near Strong City, Kansas, at the age of 21 years, 8 months and 2 days.
He was the son of Mrs. Bertha Walker Foxworthy and the late Homer Foxworthy.
Francis had lived 13 years of his life in Chase County, having spent eight years in Lyon county. He was well known in the county and being a young man of sterling character, had endeared himself to all who knew him. His untimely death is a sad blow to his family and friends.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Bertha Foxworthy, 4 brothers, Joseph, of Wichita, Billy, Lee and John, of the home, and four sisters, Mrs. L W. Cox, of Leroy, Kansas; Mrs. Dorothy Shelby, of Pasadena, California; Helen and Iva Rene Foxworthy, of the home. One sister died in infancy.
Funeral services were held at the Brown Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls, Wednesday afternoon, July 9, at 3 o'clock. Rev. Dwight L. Patton being in charge of the services. Mrs. D L Patton sang, accompanied by Mrs. J V Cracroft. The pallbearers were Ralph Stevenson, Ted White, Melvern Gibson, Elmer Ludwig, Leo Edwards and Richard Green.
Interment was made in the Bazaar cemetery.
