Foxworthy, Joseph

Joseph Foxworthy Dead.

Word came to town Sunday that Uncle Joseph Foxworthy had died at the home of his daughter on Norton creek. Mr. Foxworthy had not been strong for some time but his final serious sickness was only a few days as he was in town only a week before his death.

Mr. Foxworthy was seventy four years of age. He came to this county in 1878 and settled near Wonsevu. A few years later he moved to South Fork and has lived either in or near Cottonwood Falls ever since.

Mr. Foxworthy raised a large family of children, seven of whom are yet living, two sons and two daughters in Oklahoma, one daughter in California and one son, D W Foxworthy of South Fork and one daughter, Mrs. George Ward of Norton creek in this county.

The funeral which was conducted by Rev. Ray of Matfield Green was held at the Ward home at 2 o'clock this afternoon and the body was laid to rest beside that of his wife in the Bazaar cemetery. Mr. Foxworthy had passed the allotted four score and ten years (should be three score and ten years) had always been an active man until the last few years when he spent his time visiting his children where he received every comfort and consideration that kind hands and loving hearts could provide.
