Foxworthy, Joseph Homer "Homer"

Homer Foxworthy died at his home in the southwest part of the county Friday, Dec 17, 1937 following a long illness. Mr. Foxworthy had been ill for over a year and his condition had been critical for several weeks. Mr. Foxworthy had lived in this and Lyon counties practically all his life where he was actively engaged in farming and the livestock business until failing health had made it impossible for him to active work.

Following is the obituary which was read at his funeral covering his life briefly:

Joseph Homer Foxworthy was born near Wonsevu, Kansas, August 4th 1880 He was 57 years of age. He was the son of Joseph and Maria Foxworthy, who have preceded him in death.

He was married to Bertha Walker of Marceline, Mo., Oct. 10th, 1910. To this union was born ten children, five daughters and five sons. One girl died in infancy. He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, four daughters and five sons. Mrs. Eula Cox, of LeRoy, Kans., Mrs. Dorothy Shelby, of Pasadena, Calif., Joseph, of Newton, Kansas, Billie, Francis, Helen, Iva Rene, Lee and John of the home address and two brothers, Daniel Foxworthy of Newkirk, Oklahoma., four sisters, Mrs. George Ward, Mrs Mary Hopkins, of Cottonwood Falls, Mrs. Orpha Hopkins, of Butler, Okla., and Mrs. Arista Brown, of Santa Rosa, California.

Mr. Foxworthy had lived in Chase County and Lyon County all of his life with the exception of a few years in Kay Co, Okla., where he leaves other relatives and a host of friends.
