Gaddie, Virginia Frances

Virginia Frances Gaddie, 94, died Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at her home in the company of her two children.

Virginia, the daughter of Edward B. and Frances Tholen of Emporia, was born July 31, 1911. She married Carl Ballweg in 1934. He died in 1962. She married Frank Gaddie in 1964. He died in 2004.

She was a graduate of Emporia State College. She was active in PEO, Bazaar Ladies Aid and the Catholic Church. She retired in 1974 from The Exchange National Bank, Cottonwood Falls.

She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Hodges; a son Ernest Ballweg; two step-daughters, Amy Lou Stephenson and Sylvia Brethour; four grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary G. Kluhmann of Emporia. She was also preceded in death by a step-son, F.M. Gaddie.

Services were held March 14, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Wea, Kan. Graveside services were at Bazaar Cemetery, Bazaar. Memorial contributions to the Holy Rosary Church, Hospice Care of Kansas or Bazaar School Fund may be sent in care of Wilson & Son Funeral Home, 120 S. Broadway, P.O. Box 669, Louisburg, KS 66053.
