Gamer, Lilah S Foxworthy

Lilah S Gamer, 92, former resident of Chase County, died Wednesday, August 24 at Axtell Hospital in Newton.

Funeral services were held in Newton beginning with a rosary and meditation Friday evening, August 26, 1983 at the Petersen Funeral Home Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Newton. Msgr. Irvin F Lampe officated. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery beside her husband Harry M Gamer who preceded Mrs. Gamer in death in 1954.

Born Lilah Foxworthy, the deceased was born in Cottonwood Falls July 21, 1891, the daughter of Dan and Josephine Stubenhofer Foxworthy.

She was married to Harry Gamer in Strong City at St. Anthony's Church November 11, 1914. Two sons were born to this union, Alvin, who preceded his mother in death, and George Emran, who now resides in Madrid, Spain.

Survivors also include two sisters, Mrs. Fred Hampel (Marie) of Kingman, and Sister Mary Daniel of Leavenworth; two daughers-in law, Mrs. George Emran Gamer, Madrid, Spain and Mrs Beatrice Gamer, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters-in law Marie Gamer, Cottonwood Falls, and Katherine Wiebrecht, Strong City; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The Gamer family made their home in Newton since 1938, where Mr. Gamer was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad. A Memorial fund has been established for the church organ fund at St. Mary's Church in Newton.

Relatives attending the service from this area were Mrs. Katherine Wiebrecht, Strong City; Mr and Mrs. Lloyd Clark, Council Grove; Mrs. Ed McLinden, El Dorado.
